Mother of the Year Award

.....And the award goes to...... NOT ME!

Reasons I will NOT get the Mother of the year award:

1: The word "no" is said more than any other words I say.

2: I threaten and don't follow through(most of the time).

3: I am the most happy when they are sleeping.

4: Bribery is my best weapon.

5: Use my bathroom time as a way of an escape.

6: My computer time is waaay longer than theirs.

7: I count the days (and sometimes hours) until they start school.

8: I do a dance on the first day of school (when they leave of course).

9: I act in a most embarrassing way (according to my teenage daughter) though I'm not sure what I've done

10: Kiss and hug my kids in public.(that might explain #9)

11: I overuse the word "maybe" to get them off my back until I say no.

12: I use food as an emotional band aid.

13: Make my kids do chores even when they complain.

14: Expect them to take responsibility for their behavior.

15: THE WORST OF ALL --- Make them say "sorry" to the person they hurt.

  1. You sound like a great mom to me. You have my vote!

    Stopping by from SITS.

  2. Now listen - bribery is not bad! Nooooo. It is good:)

  3. Whatever works, girl! and that kissing and hugging thing is important. No matter if they say they hate it, inside they love it. I swear from my experience as a high school teacher its the one thing you can do which most helps to keep your kids from being sexually active too soon. Most of the girls I had in my teen support group agreed that they were sleeping with their boyfriends at an early age because it felt good to have someone hug and love them, when their parents hadn't.

just stopping by from SITS to say hi; hope you'll do the same.

  4. stopping over from SITS and loved your blog so decided to be a follower! look - NONE of us is getting the mother of the year award. NOT ONE OF US!

  5. Just stopping from SITS to say hi! Cute post!!! I'm not a mommy as of the current, but I'm sure I'll have a list like this one day :)

  6. This post is too funny! I could say alot of the same things myself... and my bathroom is my secret oasis too ;)lol
